Catalina
If you’re not familiar with Catalina coupons, they are the
longer coupons that print out at store registers. In our area you can get them
from Kroger, Meijer, Kmart, Walgreens, and now Rite Aid.
Catalina coupons are triggered by what you purchase. There
are often signs throughout the grocery store or in a store ad that tell you
when you will get a Catalina coupon. Some store ads will refer to this as a
custom coupon. For example, Meijer may have something in its ad that says,
“Purchase this product and get a $5 Meijer Custom Coupon at checkout.” This is
a Catalina coupon. When looking in a store ad at Catalina promotions, you will
want to pay attention to the ending date. Some promotions last for an entire
month, not just the week that they are mentioned. It’s always a good idea to
clip that page and place it in your coupon binder in case your Catalina does
not print as it should.
Different
types of Catalina coupons are available. Manufacturer Catalina coupons are
provided by the manufacturer of the particular product you are purchasing. Most
of the time if a Catalina promotion is provided by the manufacturer, it will
print at all stores that have a Catalina coupon machine.
Some Catalina coupons are Store Catalinas. These are
promotions provided by the store itself, and they will only print at that
particular store and be redeemable at that store only. In the event that there
is a Manufacturer’s Catalina and a Store Catalina promotion running at the same
time for the same product, you will get both Catalina coupons. For example, if
Meijer has a promotion that says, “Purchase four Capri Sun get $5 off your next
shopping trip via Meijer Custom Coupon.” And if there is a Kraft promotion that
says, “Purchase four Capri Sun get $4 off your next shopping trip via Kraft
Foods, Inc,” you will get both Catalina coupons when you purchase four Capri
Sun that gives you $9 to use on your next shopping trip. This is only an
example. Not a valid deal.
How to use Catalina
coupons
Catalina coupons vary, so knowing how to use them is very
important. If you have a Manufacturer’s Catalina coupon that is dollars or
cents off a specified product, this coupon is valid at any store that accepts
manufacturer coupons. It will say, “Redeemable at Meijer” or whatever store it
printed from, but this does not mean it cannot be used anywhere else. If it can
only be used at one store, it will say something such as, “Redeemable ONLY at
Meijer.” Even though these coupons can be used at any store, it is still the
store’s choice as to whether or not it will accept the Catalina coupons from
their competitors.
Rite Aid stores will not accept Manufacturer Catalina
coupons printed at their competitor’s stores. However, you can use Catalina
coupons printed from them at the locations that will accept them. Locations
that accept other store Catalinas include, Walmart (they do not have a Catalina
machine), Meijer, some Kroger stores, and Walgreens. These must be Manufacturer
Catalina coupons that are dollars or cents off of a specified product. For
example, it must say, “Save $1 off Reach Floss” not “Save $1 off your next
shopping trip.” Those particular Catalinas without a specified product must be
used at the store in which they are printed from. Store Catalina coupons must
be used at the store they print from as well.
Combining Catalina
coupons with manufacturer coupons
If you have a Manufacturer Catalina coupon that is dollars
or cents off a specified product, it is considered a manufacturer’s coupon and
cannot be combined with another manufacturer’s coupon. If it’s a Store Catalina
coupon, you can combine this with a manufacturer’s coupon. In the case that you
have a Manufacturer’s Catalina coupon that is dollars or cents off your next
shopping trip and not a specified product, you can combine this with you
manufacturer coupons. You can tell which Catalinas are what by looking at the
top. It will state, “Manufacturer’s Coupon” or “Store Coupon.”
