Where to go to buy or print coupons.

How to Find Coupons

Sunday Newspaper Inserts

Most people find it easiest to start gathering coupons by purchasing a Sunday newspaper (or several newspapers).  The inserts available vary from publication to publication.  You may get higher value coupons in newspapers with larger circulations, like the Detroit Free Press vs. The Flint Journal, for example.  The coupons you get in a home-delivered newspaper may also differ from the same newspaper purchased at a store or through a newsstand.  Always physically check your newspapers before purchasing to make sure that the inserts are actually inside.  It isn’t uncommon for inserts to be missing, or for one publication to have more inserts than another.

Purchasing newspapers in multiples helps to build your stockpile faster.  Some people purchase newspapers based on the number of people in their household,  such as one paper per person.

Coupon Insert Schedule

While not exact, each week on Friday you can head to http://sundaycouponpreview.com and take a look at the coupons to expect in that weekend’s newspaper.  The preview is simply a means of getting an idea of what’s – hopefully – coming your way. Always remember that coupons are regional and that the actual coupon values will vary.

Digital Coupons (eCoupons)

Digital coupons can be added to your store loyalty card (like your Kroger Plus card, Meijer MPerks account or VG’s YES card) by downloading them from your PC or an app on your smartphone.  All that you have to do is register, add your shopper card number to your account, and review the list of available coupons. You can then choose which coupons you would like to use and add them to your card. That’s it! When you go shopping, these coupons will automatically be redeemed at check out.

There are pros and cons to using digital coupons.  One of the pros includes not having to clip or carry coupons.  A card attached to your keyring or an app on your phone is all you need.  Another pro is the availability of store brand coupons. The cons to digital coupons are that they do not double and they take precedence over paper coupons.  If you have a paper coupon that will give you a better deal, save downloading the digital and use your paper coupons instead.  If you download the digital coupon, you won’t have a choice of what coupon, digital or paper, to use at the register.  It will take the digital coupon first every time.  Use digital coupons as a last resort.

Ordering Coupons

Instead of buying newspapers every week, some people opt to order only the coupons they need, in the quantities they want.  There are a couple ways of doing this – coupon clipping services and eBay.

eBay

You can also order coupons from individuals on eBay at http://www.eBay.com (search for “coupons”).  Be aware of the coupon expiration dates and the seller’s location.  Sellers, like clipping services, cannot charge for the coupons themselves.  You are paying a fee for the seller’s time and efforts.

Coupon Clipping Services

Coupons from the Sunday newspaper inserts can be purchased from various coupon clipping services online.  These services charge a fee for their work (obtaining coupons, clipping, sorting, and mailing), not the coupon itself.  Pay special attention to things like shipping costs, where the coupons are being shipped from, and any minimum or maximum order limits.  The following is a list of clipping services that some of our members have used (you can find others online by searching “coupon clipping service”):

 Internet Printables

Yes, you can print coupons!  In most cases, you are allowed to print two coupons per computer.  If you have more than one computer, you may be able to print more, meaning you can build your stockpile faster.  There are a lot of other links out in Cyberland , however most of them take you to the same places.  This is a short list of sites some of our members use:

App Printables

There are now Apps available for smartphones and tablets that will allow you to print coupons if you have a Wifi printer that is compatible with your device. Check your AppStore or GooglePlay for these apps; please note that these Apps may not be compatible with all forms of smartphones and tablets. Some Android devices are able to print some forms of PDF coupons that Apple products cannot print.  Continue to check your device for updated versions of these Apps and for new Apps to be released.
